BuyNothing Sustaining Memberships
When you choose to become a BuyNothing Sustaining Member, you have access to special features beyond the basic free BuyNothing app features. These features change over time as new features are developed. You can visit this page to see current Sustaining Member features.

When you subscribe to become a BuyNothing Sustaining Member, you choose between various options.
  • You can be a monthly Sustaining Member, with an automated recurring payment that renews each month, on the same date each month as your initial subscription date.
  • You can be an annual Sustaining Member, with an automated payment that renews once per year, on the anniversary of your initial subscription date.
You can cancel your Sustaining Member subscription at any time. Cancellation directions can be found here. There are no refunds for Sustaining Membership subscriptions.

Your BuyNothing Sustaining Membership is governed by these terms. Please read them carefully.

  • Your participation as a BuyNothing Sustaining Member is governed by the Terms of Use in force for all BuyNothing participants. Please read them carefully.
  • Your BuyNothing Sustaining Membership is nonrefundable and can be cancelled at any time. Cancellation information is available here. No refunds will be issued for days remaining in your billing cycle if you cancel mid-cycle.
  • All BuyNothing Sustaining Member mobile app subscriptions are managed by third parties (eg, Apple App Store or Google Play Store). Your billing relationship will be directly with the applicable third party. Any fees charged for your Sustaining Member subscription will be billed by the applicable third party using the payment information you have provided to this third party.
  • To cancel a subscription to Sustaining Membership obtained via a third party, please follow the cancellation instructions set out by the applicable third party. Please see Cancelling Your BuyNothing Sustaining Member Subscription for more information on cancelling your Sustaining Membership with the applicable third party.
  • BuyNothing and the Buy Nothing Project may reach out to you via direct private message in the BuyNothing app and/or via the email address(es) you provide when you establish your BuyNothing account and/or your Sustaining Membership subscription, in order to provide you with information about new or changing features, subscription status, and to provide customer service.
How to Cancel Your BuyNothing
Sustaining Membership Subscription
If you have subscribed to become a BuyNothing Sustaining Member you have done that through your app store.

BuyNothing does not have access to your payment information, as this is always processed through your app store alone. In order to cancel your subscription, you must go through your app store, where your payment information is stored and used.

You can cancel your Sustaining Member subscription at any time. Your membership benefits will remain active for any days remaining on your subscription term.

No refunds are available for Sustaining Member subscriptions or for days remaining on your subscription billing cycle, if you cancel mid-cycle.

To cancel your Sustaining Member Subscription:
  • Go to your Me page in the Buy Nothing app by tapping "Me" in the taskbar across the bottom of your BuyNothing screen.
  • Tap on the gray gear icon in the upper right hand corner of your Me page to visit your Settings page
  • On your Settings page, scroll down to the button that says "Change Subscription Settings." Tap on this and you'll be taken to your own personal app store account. Scroll through the list of your app accounts as necessary to locate "BuyNothing," and follow your app store's directions to cancel your Sustaining Member subscription.
