We have some exciting news to share! Our latest point release, Update 3.0.5, is officially live and ready for you on the Web App, iOS, and Android. This update focuses on making your experience smoother, clearer, and more intuitive. Here’s what’s waiting for you inside:

🔍 Get a Closer Look (Pinch-to-Zoom!)

You asked, and we delivered! You can now zoom in on photos. Whether you’re checking the condition of a vintage chair or looking at the fine print on a book cover, simply tap the photo and use the pinch-to-zoom gesture to see every detail.

📦 Shipping is Baaaack!

Our Buy Nothing secure shipping is fully operational and ready for your next gift. Enjoy our reduced, community-negotiated rates with UPS to receive items from neighbors near and far—straight to your door. It’s the safest and most sustainable way to expand your giving circle.

🛠️ Important Housekeeping

We’ve tidied up a few technical details to help you stay informed:

No More Sticky Banners: The "Update your app" banner will now properly disappear once you’ve successfully updated to the latest version.
Accurate Versioning: You’ll now see the correct version numbers listed in your Settings, so you’ll always know exactly which version of Buy Nothing you’re running.

How to Get the Update

Web Users: Just refresh your browser at buynothingproject.com.
Mobile Users: Head to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and hit that "Update" button to ensure you have the latest and greatest.

We have some exciting news to share today! Update 3.0.4 is officially live on our Web App (buynothingproject.com) and has been submitted to the Apple App Store and Google Play. Keep an eye on your device over the next day or two. As soon as they are approved, these features will be in the palm of your hand!

Here’s what you can look forward to in this version:

⏰ Better Conversation Tracking: We’ve added timestamps to all Comments and Comment Replies. Now you can see exactly when a conversation took place, making it much easier to coordinate pick-ups and replies.
🔗 Hyperlinks are Live: You can now share clickable links in comments! Use this to share helpful resources on how to reduce, reuse, repair, or refuse to buy in the first place.
- A friendly reminder: Please use this to point neighbors toward sustainable solutions or other Buy Nothing posts. Let’s keep the "Buy" out of Buy Nothing by refraining from sharing retail links!
❤️ Like from the Grid: See something that makes you smile? You can now "Like" a post directly from the Grid View without having to click into the post. Spreading community love is now faster than ever!
Side-lying Photos are Fixed! Have your vertical photos been appearing sideways? We’ve squashed the Image Rotation bug, so your beautiful vertical posts will now appear exactly as you intended in the feed.
Photos in Messages are Here: While there’s a 5-second delay at the moment, your photo will now render in private messages.

Check the App Store/Google Play for your update, or hop on the Web App right now to see these changes in action.

Fresh code is in the air! We’ve just pushed a series of updates to production based on the bugs you’ve reported and the features you’ve asked for most. If you’re on web (buynothingproject.com) these app updates are live now. If you’re on mobile, we’ve pushed them to the app stores and they will be deployed in your area as soon as your app store approves them (always check your app store for the latest version!). These tweaks are designed to make your Giving and Asking seamless.

Here is what’s new today here on the web app:

Smarter Messaging: No more swiping to see when a neighbor reached out. We’ve moved Time Stamps from the hidden right margin to just below each message for quick reading.

Boost Your Reach: Calling all Subscribing Members! You can now "Bump" or "Boost" your posts again to the top of both the local and global feeds. It’s a great way to get extra eyes on an urgent Ask or a generous Give.

Your Giving Legacy is Here: We’ve finished the heavy lifting on Metric Migrations! Your historical Gives, Asks, and Gratitudes are now fully reflected in the tallies at the top of the “Your posts” section of your Profile page.
- Pro Tip: Tap those green buttons to use them as filters and see your full inventory of kindness in new ways!
