Someone Contacted Me via an Unsolicited Private Message

Overview

Unsolicited private messages are not supported within Buy Nothing communities. Direct contact should be relevant, respectful, and connected to community participation.

Buy Nothing’s Position

The Buy Nothing Project does not condone unsolicited or inappropriate private messages. Maintaining a safe and respectful environment is a priority.

What to Do

Report the User

If an unsolicited private message is received, the user should be reported through the app:

1. Navigate to the sender’s profile
2. Tap the three dots (⋯) next to the profile
3. Select Report User
4. Follow the prompts to submit the report

Reports are reviewed, and repeated or serious violations may result in account removal.

If the Behavior Continues

Ongoing or repeated unsolicited messages should be reported each time they occur. This helps ensure appropriate action is taken to protect the community.
