I Just Subscribed and Want a Refund (Mobile App Subscriptions)

Overview

The Buy Nothing app is free to use for everyone. Subscribing as a Sustaining Member is optional and provides additional features while supporting the platform.

Subscriptions may be started either through the Buy Nothing web app or through a mobile app store (Apple App Storeor Google Play). This article applies to subscriptions made through mobile app stores.

Important Note About Mobile App Subscriptions

Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are managed entirely by those platforms. The Buy Nothing Project does not have direct access to cancel or refund subscriptions processed by mobile app stores.

Refunds and cancellations must be handled directly through the store where the subscription was purchased.

How to Manage or Cancel a Mobile Subscription

To manage a subscription that was started through a mobile app store:

  1. Open the Buy Nothing app
  2. Go to the Me page
  3. Tap the Settings icon (gear) in the upper-right corner
  4. Under Subscriptions, tap Change Subscription Settings

This will redirect to the appropriate subscription management page:

  • Apple App Store subscription settings, or
  • Google Play subscription settings

From there, the subscription can be canceled and refund options (if available) can be reviewed according to the store’s policies.

Refund Policies

Refund eligibility, timing, and approval are determined solely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Each store applies its own rules and processes for subscription refunds.
