Cancel My Subscription

Overview

Subscriptions in Buy Nothing are optional and can be canceled at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not remove access to the free features of the platform.

How to Cancel a Subscription in the App

Subscriptions can be managed directly from within the Buy Nothing app.

1. Open the Buy Nothing app or website and sign in
2. Tap the Settings option
3. Under Subscriptions, tap Change Subscription Settings

This action redirects to the platform that manages the subscription payment.

Important Notes About Where You Subscribed

App Store Subscriptions (Apple or Google Play)

If the subscription was started through the Apple App Store or Google Play, billing is controlled entirely by those platforms. The Buy Nothing Project cannot cancel mobile app subscriptions on a user’s behalf.

To cancel:

• Apple App Store (iPhone / iPad):

  Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Select Buy Nothing → Cancel

• Google Play (Android):

  Play Store → Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Select Buy Nothing → Cancel

If the Buy Nothing app account has been deleted, the subscription must still be canceled directly through the App Store or Google Play.

Web / Stripe Subscriptions

If the subscription was started through the Buy Nothing web app, the Change Subscription Settings link will open the Stripe-managed billing page where cancellation can be completed.

Uninstalling the App

Uninstalling or deleting the Buy Nothing app does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions must be canceled through the billing platform where they were created.
